Eye of the Tiger and Punching Grace present: Boxing returns to Outaouais with 2 championship bouts including Mbilli in the final!
An 11-fight card will be presented on September 8 at the Théâtre du Casino Lac-Leamy. In the final of the gala, Christian Mbilli faces Demond Nicholson in defense of his WBC Continental of the Americas and WBA International titles.
Currently ranked #1 in the WBC world super-middleweight rankings, #3 according to The Ring Magazine and the WBA, and #4 in the IBF, WBC Continental of the Americas champion Christian Mbilli (24-0, 20 KOs) will need to deliver a flawless performance against American Demond Nicholson (26-5-1, 22 KOs) if he is to maintain his legitimacy to become a contender for the 168 lb. world titles held by Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. Having faced some of the division’s biggest names, including Edgar Berlanga and Demetrius Andrade, Nicholson is an experienced boxer renowned for a style every bit as offensive as the EOTTM protégé, guaranteeing an explosive spectacle for boxing fans.
Two championship bouts will be presented in Gatineau, as new NABF super-lightweight champion Steve Claggett (35-7-2, 25 KOs) defends his title, acquired last June, for the first time against former WBA world champion Alberto Machado. He will face the boxer nicknamed “El Tiburon,” renowned for his devastating punching power, Carlos Sanchez Valadez (24-1, 19 KOs).
Also in action at the event are Alexandre Gaumont (8-0, 6 KOs), who will face unbeaten boxer Ulices Tovar Rivera (8-0, 5 KOs), and Vanessa Lepage-Joanisse (5-1, 2 K.-O.), who will cross swords with Timea Nagy (2-1, 2 KOs). Harley-David O’Reilly (1-0, 1 KO) will also be back in the ring, as will Christopher Guerrero (7-0, 3 KOs), Luis Santana (9-0, 3 KOs), Mehmet Unal (4-0, 4 KOs), the professional debuts of Moreno Fendero and Jhon Orobio (3-0,3 KOs).
